1985 Olds 4.3 V6 opinions?

I found a 85 olds 98 with a 4.3 V6 diesel for a couple hundred bucks. Runs /drives, has a few rust spots, nothing too bad. I know the V6 is supposed to be better than the V8s were. Anybody have any personal opinions about the V6? Not only is it rare, but I could use a school car for next year to drive 80 miles a day. I would expect 30-35 MPG out of this thing, am I right?

I had one in a Chevy Celebrity until I boiled it hard pulling a trailer it was the best dame car I ever had. I blew the heads and could not find any used ones so I parked it. I still have it and its got a new injector pump on it. I got over 40 miles to the gallon with it pulling my tent trailer on the flats.
