Angry Blown Engine!

I have an 04'Dually/LLY. I was just on a trip cruising at 70mph with the cruise control on towing a 53ft trailer that weighed 12,500lbs and started to climb a hill. The truck down shifted and started to pull and I heard a pop and looked in the rear view mirror and saw alot of smoke. I pulled to the side of the road and shut it down. I thought I lost an injector. Finally got towed to a dealer in Weatherford,OK.. So much for the 100,000 mile diesel warranty! I am currently fighting with the factory rep. for that area. His name is (Matt Booth) Remember his name if you ever have a problem with a G.M. product. It won't be handled properly. We sent pictures into his office and the first thing he claims is:This was caused by a (Power Adder) and declined to cover it under the 100,000 mile G.M. diesel warranty. My injector stuck open and took out the number 1 piston and scoured the cylinder wall too. This rep. didn't even have the balls to come out and inspect the engine himself. This truck is my work truck and does not have any (Power Adders). G.M.'s own document states: Generally, in inspection of Duramax engine failure due to power-up failures, two or more cylinders will be affected. (Not what happened here)

G.M. also states: A failed fuel injector may fracture a piston or melt a piston but the damage will be limited to that cylinder only and all other pistons and cylinders walls are OK. (That is what happened to me)

I would like to know how many other G.M.customers have had the same type of customer service I have had. They tout about their customer service when there isn't any!

I will give credit to the dealer who has been fighting along side of me. I couldn't have asked for more help. We both are fustrated with General Motors but I am not giving up the fight. My next move is to file an action with the courts. After that, I will go to the T.V.news and the news papers. I hope they step up and honor their own 100,000 mile diesel warranty. Lately I hear alot of other people having the same problems. I have always been a loyal G.M.customer. I have a H2,H1,and a Chevy 3500 Dually. This is really starting to make me reconcider my next purchase! ARE YOU LISTENING GENERAL MOTORS????????

G.M. is playing hard ball. Called today from customer service to tell me they received my email in G.M's corporate headquarters and that they were still denying my warranty claim. Off to court we go!

Dont use E-mail. Use registered mail with return receipt. Keep copy of all letters, sent and received Keep record of phone call, name of caller, date, time, subject, etc,. What is the name of the person that called you, and what is their position and what authority do they work under to deny anything?

What is the specific reason for denying warranty?

Thank's we did send a registered letter to General Motors legal Dept. and cc'ed all of G.M.'s top exec's the same letter. You give good advice. I am lucky in that my wife is a litigation attorney and doesn't miss anything. we are keeping track of everything. We are moving foward with a suit. G.M. is just use to people walking away. I won't! I might not be as big as them but they are going to think they have hemroids when I get done with them.

Got a call this morning from the General Motors Business resource center. Had to tell them the story all over again. Sounds like she wants to help but I told her I didn't have much faith in this being taken care of before it goes to court. After speaking to several G.M. customers, it seems to show a pattern for how General Motors takes care of their warranty claims. The G.M. 60month/100,000 mile diesel warranty is as worthless as the paper it is written on. When this does make it to court, I will then take it to the T.V. news and then to the local News Papers. That will get it into the L.A.Times!

Means Pump Mounted Driver-used on the turbo 6.5 injection pumps from '94 up to around '01, they are electronic modules that overheat & kill the fuel supply, they can be remounted using a remote harness & heat sink to get them away from the engine heat. Another of GM's diesel "field based" R & D programs-i.e. NO field testing. See self-destructing '83-'91 6.2 blocks & cranks, & cracking 6.5 blocks for more information!

Glad to hear you guys are stickin it to GM, don't get me wrong there are a lot of great GM dealers, techs and mechanics out there, but there are even more S***HOLES Out there.

I had a new allison put in my truck and it had a 6 month 10,000 mile warranty on it and when the clutch packs started slipping due to it bein a used trans and me bein a farmer and simply using it for what it meant for they did a test on it and said it was due to my truck having a programmer on it and having
35" "Oversized tires on it" haha, I got friends running 38s and 42s and they havent had any trouble. Plus I took the programmer completely off and it did it stock just as bad!!! So I just plan to eventually put a Suncoast or ATS tranny in it and then I'm sure it will hold and handle anything I can throw at it.

Anyways I have since switched dealers and I hope you guys kick GMs ****ING ASS to where they will start holding up their end of the deal!

Good luck and keep us posted on how the fight goes

Got calls today from BBB this morning explaining to me,General Motors got back to them and agreed they do have a 60 month/ 100,000 mile diesel warranty with their trucks on the engines. The person at the BBB thought the warranty ended at the 3 year/36 month. Now the BBB opened up a complete new case to work on this problem. One thing they did bring to light is my truck and it's problem fall under a section of the Lemon Law Act. That surprised me! Good to know!

The BBB put in a call to the General Motors Business Resource Center and updated them. In return, I got a call from the G.M. resource center today to tell me about their call and that now General Motors is opening up a complete new file on this case and have 2 reps. from the center working to expidite a remedy to this problem. One thing the rep. mentioned was that when the inspector looked at my truck and saw the pyro and boost gauges, he suspected I had power-adders on my truck. I had to explain to her that if you purchase a big rig, these gauges come stock from the factory in the dash so you can monitor your engine and help it to last. I told her I was surprised they did not come from the factory on the diesel pick-ups. And that they were as important as your oil pressure gauge. It must be to keep costs down. I use this truck for what General Motors advertise it for, a work truck!

I did mention to them all three of the web sites I am on keeping record, so they can look and see how many of their customers and future customers are watching this thread to see how much of a stand-up company General Motors is or isn't before they buy their next diesel truck. I hope this wakes them up!
