    1992 chev ton radiator

My truck has a cooper radiator on it an I would like to install a new one. All I see is aluminum. My radiator has 4 rows and what I can read is only 1 row in the new ones. Is this correct? Does anyone know a good place to get a well built radiator or any advise? Thanks Cass

If your tanks are in decent condition, take it to a radiator shop and have it re-cored. I do that with all of my radiators that have leaky cores instead of buying a new one. Even if one tank is bad, they can usually replace that too. If it says it's a single row on the aluminum radiator, you need to look at the core thickness instead of the number of rows. I think some of them have a single row that is as wide as the core thickness, so you haven't really lost anything to speak of cooling wise. Mike

Everyone is too cheap to build a good copper radiator, fix what you have if at all possible.

The secret is finding a shop that can still recore a brass radiator-all the ones here have gone under. I needed a spare one (for the '92), got lucky & found a good used brass one, but the aluminum one in my '93 is original, holding up & cooling fine, & it had some NASTY brown junk in it when I first got it. Get one from a decent store or website w/a lifetime warranty, you'll be OK.
