    Duramax Fuel Temp Sensor Code

2005 Duramax with Banks Six gun tuner.

Recently my 05 Duramax had a check engine light. The code came back as Fuel Temp Sensor out of Range. It was comming back as both too high and too low a temp. The check engine light would only come on rigtht after I started the truck. It would not come on while driving. And sometimes after a few days the check engine light would go off. Also when this occurred, I would experience a "hiccup" when I accelerated. I disconnected the Banks System and the problem continued. I also replaced my air filter and fuel filter just in case. I would reset the code and a week or so later the code would come back up. When the mechanic attached the monitor, the sensor temp readings were all over the place. It appeared that the sensor may be bad. We replaced the sensor and everything was fine for a few hundred miles and now the problem is back. Any ideas?

A bad/loose connection in the plug for the sensor or a broken wire in the harness near that plug is probably your trouble.
