Everyone is waiting for Nobama to do something,,,,anything,,,. No wait, we are being open minded and giving him a chance,,, no thats not it. We are too busy working to pay for his spending. And before someone blames Bush, yes his was bad enough. But nowhere near what we have seen since this clown took over.

The "O" rainbow symbol on his bumper sticker stands for "ZERO". Please refer to him as such in the future. Thanks for your cooperation, MGMT

Glad to see you're still clickin' along Tom.

I think this forum is dead because life in this country became to mean more than Brand bashing. I frankly don't care anymore what someone else drives, I'm just greatful we still have the choice to drive what we want...

    ... for now.

That and all you boys realized the new acronym for GM (gov't motors) is far worse than the ones you boys had for Ford.

Glad you made it back, with all your parts and pieces I hope. Were you just working or was it a military deployment? Flying helo medivac missions if I remember correctly? Thanks for all you did while you were gone. Mike

I was working for a private military organization that is contracted with the Afghan government, trying to stop the drug trade that is financing world terrorist. I flew a fixed wing aircraft carrying ass and trash (people and equipment) to different areas. No intentional hot LZ, but the terrorist would get really mad at us for interfering with their trade. I did pick up a few holes in my aircraft, but nothing serious. No medivac, I will leave that up to the younger men. I spent my 50th birthday just like my 20th, in a foreign country, austere living in a tent, watching the bad guys shoot at the good guys. Before I left, I arranged to get my old job back if I returned after 1 year, and I think the mid-life need for excitement has passed. I did knock off 20 pounds, thanks to the help of a couple parasites.

I am no hero, but I did meet plenty of young heroes. It was humbling to meet so many young people that have dedicated a part of their lives so that we can sleep safely in our homes. I did not do much, but I just could not sit here living the easy life while others put their lives on the line for our safety. I did what I could for 50 year old fat man.

It doesn't matter what you did or didn't do over there, what does matter is that you went. We're about the same age, my 51st is in May. I didn't join up out of high school because I was dumb and listened to the anti war crowd right after 'Nam was over. I wish now I would have gone, but oh well. Anyway, all I could do now is drive a big lumbering ground target to help out, so like you, I'll leave it to the young folks out there. I'm too old to run for cover when my truck craps out, provided I was still able to run! I still think you're a great American even if you do say you didn't do nutin. Mike

Please, do not thank me. I was hired to do a specific job, and was paid very well. Anytime we were in harms way, we were herded into a secure place until the risk was over. I saw results of the confrontations that injured our young, patriotic well trained soldiers. I also saw the results of how well they do their jobs. We were not allowed out of our secure quarters while on the ground, but I did sneak a ride on a few convoys and saw first hand how dangerous being on the ground is. I even was able to go on a couple of ground patrols, but I had to stay behind everyone. If any shooting started there was at least two brave young soldiers assigned to risk their lives to make sure I was safe. I never was afraid while in the air, not even the times I saw a string of 12.5 A/A tracers coming my way, because I knew that in a couple minutes I would be miles away while our brave young soldiers on the ground had to endure the danger. I did nothing special. The heroes are the ones that wont come back, wont come back to become productive citizens, wont come back to their families, or wont come back to marry and start new families. The real heroes are the moms that watch their children go off to fight an enemy that has no tolerance of freedom of religion or freedom itself. If you want to thank someone, next time you see a soldier, grip their hand tightly and thank them for their unselfish service.

Cham, I didn't feel funny as I returned. I now stay awake all night worrying about all the buddies I left behind. Glad you are back safe.

Mike, you and I came of age at a time when military service was not required, nor was it even expected of us. So don't worry, through no fault of ours we were just born at the wrong (or right) time. I don't have a family to be responsible for, except for my mom, so my decision to go was mine and mine alone. I have since promised my mom no more bush flying or hazardous duty flying. She is 78 years and very active. I bet she will outlive us all.

I am sure there are many others on this forum that did much, much more than I did, and for much less pay. Not only in the current war but wars in the past. To those people, I say thank you for your service, thank you for a job well done and God bless you.
